Wait what? I mean most people are just innocuous assholes behind the scenes, but I did not see that coming.

theres a podcast branden did for a bit and the last episode was an interview with quinn that contextualized a lot concerning the band and what ive heard regarding justin is most certainly not out of character regarding the band
theyll always be one of my favorites thanks to the s/t alone but i pity anyone in the band

Yeah, it's unfortunate really. I don't expect every band I like to be completely baggage free, but it still sucks knowing this shit. Really gives me a lot of tests to my stance on "separate art from artist" for one. Like next thing you know I'll be disregarding my morals and trying to get into Brand New despite Jesse Lacey's indiscretions if it keeps falling apart like this lmao

with the used its easier since most of the first two albums is written by branden and quinn and its not like they did (to my knowledge) rapey shit but its disheartending
i would probably not care about bn at all if i heard them after the allegations broke out but since they were my favorite band the whole two years prior its hard to remove that attachment n shit (with a little break when i got into alkaline trio first then cut short when sci fi dropped out of nowhere). thank god alkaline trio just dropped one of the most important albums to my life to at least make them easier to kinda forget about but its still left a hole thats pretty hard to fill

yeah I was always more of a taking back sunday guy anyway, only reason i bothered with the title track of daisy a few years ago was because someone accused seether of ripping that song off.

I will do whatever it takes to get you into Brand New so keep trying it, pal

taking back Sunday aren’t even remotely comparable

@Green Baron: The comparison is made because Lacey was actually TBS's original bassist before he left.
|
| |
I'm aware, but TBS never matured beyond their poppy emo beginnings. Brand New's radical transformation was one for the ages.

I've liked what I heard, but I'm not in the mood to pirate their shit just to make sure Jesse Lacey doesn't make a cent from me streaming them.

counterpoint: TBS evolved significantly with every album and have a better overall discog than brand new

imagine depriving yourself of some of the greatest music of the 21st century because “the bad man can’t have my money”
Taking Back Sunday peaked with their debut and went through serious lulls in the middle of their career, yeah they’ve rebounded but not nearly to the quality of the first two. regardless their best album would be Brand New’s second worst anyways

yeah nah they didn't peak with the debut that's their second worst album

@Green Baron: Yeah, imagine wanting to be an ethical consumer instead of willingly putting money in the hands of known scuzzbags like Lacey, who completely halfassed his apology anyway.

eh bad vocals, bad production, like 2-3 weaker tracks
everything up to Louder Now was a big improvement on the previous album, New Again was a black sheep/sidestep that still really cool. s/t sucked pretty bad and then they made their best two albums
