Yeah I was just doin it because they were already being compared, Sputnik gets real confused when there's more than one sad woman making music

I'll never forget the heyday of Laura Stevenson frenzy, what a time to be alive

Con < 3

Now I just want to hear Baker and Bridgers collab. Bridgers writes the song, Baker sings lead, Bridgers sings harmony, I die of happiness

Sadgirl music is like my favorite thing but I dont know how you wouldn't think the two albums are comparable

They're both sadgirl singer-songwriter albums with emphasis on vocal performances and lyrics

Its not like they're both identical or anything, but they're definitely comparable

My ratings say Baker is obviously better but for some reason I connect to this album ridiculously hard

I still don't get why that makes them worth comlaring. Bridgers makes a more diverse catalogue of music ranging from downbeat folk to upbeat country rock. Her lyrics are lyrics, just like Baker's lyrics are also lyrics. Saying "a focus on lyrics" like that can't apply to any music with words is pretty silly. Baker makes primarily always super downbeat slowcore-y shit. Not even close to the same vibes I wanna get from either artist. If I want to hate myself and have a good cry I'll listen to Baker. If I want more energetic story telling I'll listen to Bridgers.

It's not like we all go comparing two guys with guitars. I mean I love Mark Kozelek and Gareth Liddiard but I'm not comparing Strange Tourist with MK's S/T just bc theyre two white guys with an emphasis on playing music like getchur head outveyur ass

Not only this, but they are contemporaries with very similar influences, and they've toured together. Seems like an obvious comparison.

I mean if you can't compare Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker, you basically can't compare music.
