Wouldn't say it's better since it's only 4 tracks, but it goes further back than OMATS or The Hunter did. If you don't like anything Mastodon has put out in the last 5 years there's a good chance you are gonna hate this too though.

I love The Hunter, but the last 2 are boring.

Then you have a 33% chance of liking it Hawks ;)

There are some parts of it that are very Hunter-y, if you dug the slower, more atmospheric tracks on that album this should be right up your alley

@Mayhem I think it is, but I also like Hunter and OMRTS more than their first 4 so take that with a grain of salt.

Same. Please 'Don, make a full-length like this & cut out all the middle-of-the-road hard rock/pop-metal stuff. I accept they won't return to their heavier roots but this was a welcome change.
