Careerist doesn't have to do with appealing to the lowest common denominator. In this context I mean they're not doing anything that could potentially upset their fanbase, nothing artistically risky. The lyrics especially felt like fan service to me, came across as self-parody (but that's never lobbed at the band because it's so ~raw & sincere~).

I got you, fair enough, then, mate. Outside of Sputnik, though, from what I've seen, this has been their most polarising amongst fans. Perhaps other people have reached a similar conclusion.

Yeah I can see your point lucid, now I wouldn't say this is lowest common denominator, but structually the songs are more straightforward than their previous work. Their earlier stuff tended to be more linear and more interesting whereas they've definitely started to structure their tracks with verse chorus verse chorus bridge chorus kinda stuff, still love em though.

Lucid which direction would you like to see them take?

decent album but something about that "the people in the apartments across the street literally and metaphorically look down on me" line really irks me

Worst line on the album. It doesn't help it's also the first line of that song. Your avi managed to get better, wow.

Gotta bump my rating. This album just gets better and better with each listen. Currently a contender for AOTY.

It's kinda basic, but I can't imagine this not being my AOTY.

nah even tho after the party and more scared of you arent the best of either band, they're really solid works when considered individually i.e. i am not disappointed even tho the bands did not top their personal bests

also ATP is an improvement after rented world
