I imagine a lot of people haven't bothered with The Shins' new one because of the generally lukewarm reception and the sense that they are already past their prime - Spoon on the other hand have been pretty consistently active and most people don't think there's been a significant dip in quality in their work. That said, by and large I imagine that Heartworms is doing better than this in the popular sphere.

Yeah Soul is much better for sure, but i really like the direction they're going for here.

Yeah, sonically this album is really nice. I just don't think the songwriting is very strong bar a few tracks.

Then again, they've spoilt us with some great tunes over the years...
