Exactly demon.
I really liked it. Proper people as well, it’s like Liverpool in as much as the ‘regeneration’ has started but the wankers haven’t taken over.....yet.

The quote my mate in Leeds (well he lives in Huddersfield) likes to say is he’s proud to work in the city with the highest incidence of super gonorrhoea in the UK

he’s single so I think the jokes on him

"Brighton is good in a lot of ways, immense for pubs and non chain restaurants...but been so much as sort of day trips and dated a girl there for a long time...it’s got baggage."

My exact same take but for Bristol. Miss that city, awesome place (and Brighton is quality too)

Bristol I went to for some work training and a friend I work with studied there so showed us around - just stayed one night but seemed classy

Haha, yeah fortunately the place is experiencing significant growth at the minute, lots of regeneration/new projects going on. There are still some areas that I wouldn't touch with a barge pole, but that's true of pretty much any city.

I was going to mention Bristol on the side as I've heard good things, but I've never actually been there.

Zak how could you willingly return to living the UK after spending time down under? They would have to drag me onto the plane kicking and screaming.

Nah but I wasn’t a fan. Mind you I only really stayed in London and briefly in Manchester

Think it’s as unfair/disingenuous/damaging to lump young Labour voters together as expectant freeloaders as it is to consider all Tory/BP voters as foaming mouth nationalists. Can you really blame them? Can you point at Corbyn’s subpar conviction whilst shelving Boris’ inability to speak a full sentence? They (royal they as it’s me included) see a government that failed (and blamed) the Grenfell victims, failed the Windrush gen, bungled Brexit, and seem to turn a blind eye to the impoverished in favour of lining pockets? That much might seem surface level but it’s important to the generations that feel they have been almost ostracised by their elders. All the while FPTP is in effect this’ll be where we look if we want to affect change.

Worst result for me would be another right wing coalition, or any coalition for that matter because I don’t see much in the way of alignment. LD are worst of the bunch as far as I’m concerned. In an ideal world I’d probably vote Green - in the actual world I’ll be voting Labour

In an ideal world I'd be allowed to vote in the UK elections. Managed to vote in the referendum and for Labour leadership. But in the actual world at least my Green party vote (and Labour constituency vote) is actually worth something over yonder. Fuck FPP agreed.

Lib Dems are closest to the centre and are pro Europe so I have little problem with them.

the Andrew Neil interview nails it with Corbyn 'how much do the top 5% pay in income tax?'

'oh I don't know'

'50%'

'they earn a lot'

'but they'll leave'

'equality will be a great idea for everyone...'

'they'll leave'

what a car crash

not only do they pay the most tax check how much they give to charity - a way bigger proportion of the rest of the population

you need wealth creators, you need rich philanthropists, they're not all bad eggs

Labour leaning so far left, being evasive and inept allows the tories to lean further right and get away with more undesirable bs, it's a bit of a nightmare this Momentum Labour

Think we need proportional representation now, need something different - polarised politics to this degree is a Corbyn Andrew Neil interview. None of what these leaders are saying rings true, less and less is relatable.

No perfect form of democratic voting, but FPP is objectively the worst, surely.

MMP works pretty well in NZ but we are much smaller ofc.

I can't see there ever being any voting reform, but my favourite method is single transferable vote - though to be honest, a lotto draw would be superior to FPTP

Just did another survey, usual issue, really close:

https://uk.isidewith.com/profile/4026055433/parties

Tory 84%

Lib Dem 83%

Labour 78%

Brexit 75%

Green 70%

UKIP 37% (do they still exist?)

So the compass survey had me as Green...this had me as effectively 'least Green'

This one based more on policies landed more where expected:

Lib Dem = 28

Tory = 11

Brexit = 7

Green = -8

So my political beliefs are more green/liberal in my heart....but looney policies scupper the Greens, I actually like the Lib Dem manifesto this time (outside of Brexit which I'm sick of)

Did that I Side With one:

98% Greens and SNP, 92% Labour.

No way anyone could have 98% alignment with any party in any country tbh.

Our Greens have gone down hill a bit this term, but regardless it's always important that they have some seats at the table.
