Album surprised me quite a lot. Vocals are definitely the worst thing about this album though, I can see Shadows reaching Axl level lows eventually. Drums are great though apart from the "blasting" in the verses of Fermi Paradox

Why would brooks leave bad religion for this shit though? That's the real question.

I actually quite enjoyed that bit, even the vocals on that seemed to work for me...

I actually think in general the vocals on 'Fermi Paradox' are the best on the record, smooth sounding but still impassioned.

Heavens work on borrowed tiiiiiiiime

Absolutely, but the Axl similarities are worryingly true as well...

Apparently the producer insisted against any vocal tuning and they went along with it, saying it sounds great - that's a worry because whilst I appreciate it sounding more raw, it could have been a LOT better with a bit of studio engineering.

yea there are plenty of vocalists where vocal tuning isnt always the best idea in my book (coughcoughbilliejoearmstrong) but shadows sure as hell aint one of them

I mean if the vocals were what they could be on this album, we could be looking at AOTY.

TBF my AOTY list at the moment is so fucking crowded right now so it's probably just as well - at this point even confidently creating a top 20 is gonna be an ask, there's been so many great records.

I'm pretty set on my number 1 (skeleton tree) but if that allbum hadn't come out i'd feel the same way. 2016 has brought so many great releases

i like how the band released this record....reminds me of back in the day when you had no idea a record was being released until you saw it in the record store
