neon has the worst production of all their albums tbh. this is only slightly better.

I thought the production on Neon was great

it sounds really flat and the lead guitar is too quiet for my liking. plus the ultra plastic sound of the snare cuts through the mix and doesn't sound good at all imo
but the songs are actually pretty sweet so i still gave it a 3.5

Erra is Prog Metalcore with Djent elements, the production on Drift is superb and you guy's won't change my mind, i prefer the production on this "slightly" more than Neon so far (haven't heard the whole thing yet), only the first two singles

Neon sounds like a 2.5 tbh. There's 4-5 memorable songs and other than that its just kinda meh.

At this point I'm tired of Jesse's annoying singing that ultimately does nothing but take you out of the song. Neon is a decent, yet forgettable album that should've been amazing. Jesse is great at writing riffs, but his cleans aren't good and they're not special enough to elevate a track.

I think his cleans on Neon (and Drift for that matter) are on par with the other big metalcore bands. I think Augment was the low point as far as Jesse's vocals go, I think he's improved quite a bit (so has JT). I'm kind of getting tired of them trading verses though. I'd like to see more songs where they're trading lines and really playing off each other more rather than dominating whole sections of the songs.

Jesse is kinda like a less whiny Spencer Sotelo

i'm actually gonna bump it down to a 3 since i find myself only going back to a few songs but he's still the main reason i like it

Fuck listening to Neon at midnight; Lights just dropped a bomb out of nowhere and is releasing a Drake cover album tonight. Jesse's annoying ass can wait.

T/T on this is still maybe my fave Erra track of all time. The composition is so deliberate, with none of the random riff transitions they're sometimes prone to. The bridge is so soothing and that solo is pure fire. It's one of the few songs from this in my regular rotation.

Haven't even heard Light's cover album and I'm willing to bet its better than Neon

My initial thoughts after listening to Neon once through are that Jt and Jesse both sound better vocally (how Jesse improves with each new release is really astounding), but the songwriting leaves a lot to be desired. The delivery is still as smooth as ever though, and I enjoyed the album, as I think most fans of the band will.

Yes that Lights album came out of nowhere and it's acoustic and it's just AMAZING

Yeah i like Drift more than Neon because has that more progressive feel, and also there's lots of long chords that last for multiple bars at a time, leaving the music to actually BREATH. Neon is kind suffocated in that area, there is a couple of slow moments on the record but for the most part, it's choked by constant riff's

Yup Lights made Drakes orginal rendition of the album sound like ASS in comparison

Jesse is pretty over-utilized in Neon, i think he has more vocals than even Drift had, i think it was better in Augment and Impulse where he was scarcely used, but when he was on there, it was special and really added something to the track
