Steak we have to recommend each other a couple songs. I want your opinion on a couple bands you swore you would never fuck with.

You need to hear a couple Spiritbox and Iwrestledabearonce tracks. I know you're really not into those bands but I think it's time... I'll owe you one ;)

Btw I just revisited Augment the other day and I really found my appreciation for it again. It's like my 2nd or 3rd Erra now.

Is IWABO's last album any good? The one with the different vocalist?

Yeah it's good but quite different. It's really tech-deathy and vicious, giving little room to breathe with the melodic passages kept to a bare minimum. Spiritbox is the next extension of IWABO (same vocalist and guitarist) and imo blows all that stuff out of the water completely, but both are interesting bands worth exploration.

Steak just listen to the Spiritbox EP. If you like that I'll recommend some IWABO tracks that were solid precursors, but mostly I just want to expose more people to this EP cause it's been an obsession of mine. It's been the best thing to come out of djent/metalcore in a long time for me (except maybe Johari and TesseracT). I want to know what you think cause our tastes sometimes overlap.

Yeah Pale Blue has not left my rotation. So did you listen to Spiritbox yet? You don't even need to check the whole EP, just the Mara Effect sequence. It's only like a 12 minute song, just do it bro.

I checked both Hail Mary and the Spiritbox EP today and they're both dope. The Spiritbox EP sounds like it could have been the fifth IWABO album. It's cool that the band progressed from kinda shitty to pretty good.

Spiritbox is way better. Or at least more attuned to my taste in that style. Though Hail Mary has its moments of insanity and gorgeous melody as well, the ratio is a bit off... There's too much wacky grindcore shenanigans and not enough cohesiveness which Spiritbox delivers in spades.
