Goes hard for sure, some of the most poignant lyrics on that one.

Ugh, watching the end of their final show is tough.

Memorial is a gut wrencher for sure. Though the whole album is very bleak lyrically.

I haven't jammed this in some time honestly. Tough listen if you're going through it

I remember the taste

The morning your heart fell from my hands

Yeah honestly if I'm not sad all the sadness wells up when I jam this regardless

Really hits the heartthrob in me heard

Also new 40 Watt Sun has some really poignant bits

I find it kind of unsettling how many times his lyrics mention hearts. Bursting, beating out of time, etc.

Spoke to Nick from Dead Swans last night as my band played a show with his new band Still in Love. I mentioned I saw Dead Swans support Departures at their last show and he went onto tell me how the Departures guys all wanted to carry on but sadly James' condition put a stop to that.

Absolutely tragic that such a great band got dealt such an awful hand like that.

This is the perfect swan song for their discog but what a sad way to stop and it must be hell for James having to put his focus away from the band and the music. It actually makes listening to the album even more powerful knowing that and this album never fails to hit you in the feels

Yeah i remember seeing the original facebook post of them announcing the end due to his heart condition. Gut-wrenching stuff. I love these guys.

No album has so viciously dug into my soul as this one has

Still the soundtrack to every manic attack or depressive low I've experienced in the last 5 years

Apologies for the shameless self plugging, but for those who are missing Departures, my band who are heavily influenced by them just dropped a new single:
