uh no it was rebranded as a "black comedy" after it came out in order to try to save face in a "Ha ha we meant it to be bad the whole time ha ha tricked you! *sobs*" kind of way. It was more likely just used to launder money.

Pfft w/e

To me, The Phantom Menace was the pinnacle of what Star Wars means. Epic Space Battles, great lore and Science-Fiction world building, fantastic story, great acting, quick and acrobatic lightsaber fights with ingenious choreography, and imposing villains with an air of mystery.

Also it has my favorite actor of all time in it. And he pulls off one of the greatest SW performances.

If we were talking about Episode II or III I would agree with you. However, I find Phantom menace's script and acting top notch. All of the cast are at the top of their game, and the script is poignant, explanatory, and filled with nuance.

Natalie Portman's acting sucks in a lot of places, the scenes with the Jedi masters are awkward af...

I don't think Natalie did too bad in Phantom Menace, I think whatever hindrances appeared in II or III, it was because of a poor script.

"The Room was designed as a satirical black comedy."

The Room was supposed to be a drama and was so poorly made it only works as a comedy. How is it a thriller or even mistaken as one?

Episode I is good, agreed.

Also the argument that Rey is perfect because she is a Skywalker is garbage because :

A) You have no confirmation that she is a skywalker, you are basing your entire argument on a theory thar might or might not happen.

B) Even if she is a skywalker, it doesn't mean she has to be the greatest jedi in the universe. Certainly not one that learns the ways of the force in 1 day, even less. Yes Luke had SOME training, but he fucking had it, didn't he ? He had a little time with Yoda after which Vader kicked his ASS, and after that between the gap of episode 5 and 6 he obviously had more training and more experience. So yeah, shitty argument.

C) You do remember that Kylo Ren is technically a Skywalker as well right ? Even if we assume Rey's line is stronger because her father is Luke ( again just a big IF ) she shouldn't be able to destroy another trained and experienced Skywalker without ANY knowledge of the force whatsoever. I don't care what you say, but Rey having these powers w/o ANY training is pure shitting on the jedi lore.

"B) Even if she is a skywalker, it doesn't mean she has to be the greatest jedi in the universe."

lol ok it's not like you can help being born with innate abilities

but it seems to me like you don't know who mara jade skywalker is so

"C) You do remember that Kylo Ren is technically a Skywalker as well right ? "

kylo ren is probably the single weakest dark side user portrayed in official canon media. he's literally just a young angsty vader wannabe without the same level of innate potential and without a similarly knowledgeable or powerful master (obi-wan or palpatine). not a bad character mind you, i'm looking forward to his development, but clearly a very weak force user

A weak force user ? Really ? Up until the final fight he was badass and I would say he was pretty fucking good, but the reason you think he's weak is because Rey without any powers kicked his ass. You see Kylo's not the problem, it's Rey.

And yes I know who Mara Jade Skywalker is, but you should stop talking about the EU because we both know Disney trashed it so it's all irrelevant.

(She wasn't even in the official cannon to begin with)

"but you should stop talking about the EU because we both know Disney trashed it so it's all irrelevant. "

such a silly thing to say, especially considering how many elements from it have been adapted and retold in 7 and will probably be expanded upon in 8 and 9 and any spinoffs

it's not like they said it's shit, if anything they said theyll incorporate it where appropriate and so far i'm happy with how it's been going

You see, right there's the problem. "PROBABLY" " maybe" "possibly".

You are again making conclusions based on theories and trashed stories. If this movie were any good it would've explained all of this so you don't have to make some made-up theories explaining the unexplainable plot holes and bad writing. This way, you admit that the movie just doesn't stand on its own.

The EU was gigantic and some of the most ridiculous stories existed in it, so that EVERYTHING has been covered. It's almost impossible not to incorporate ideas from there.
