this album has such little replay value for a melo-death record, and the synths are infuriatingly cheesy at times. "The Smoke Of Many Fires" could be a great song if those synths weren't so pronounced in the mix.

everything is borderline catchy, borderline invigorating

some good stuff here and there, but it essentially sounds like a 2005 metalcore release in half speed with less riffs and no cleans. I am fairly certain current melo-death is basically early-to-mid naughties metalcore with less riffs and no cleans, and yet it all warrants considerably higher praise than said albums.

Don't really understand, but different strokes for different folks I guess.

"but it essentially sounds like a 2005 metalcore release in half speed with less riffs and no cleans"

except it doesn't sound like that, at all. and btw, 2005 metalcore just stealed riffs from some of the melodeath greats from the 90s so... yea, I don't know what are you talking about lol. there are no generic sots type riffs here anywhere, even at half speed.

lol less riffs? they have longer songs and dont fill half of their songs with breakdowns, so youre wrong there. and the only thing this has in common with 2005 metalcore is the melodic riffs, the songwriting and aesthetic is totally different. no idea what youre going on about.

Saw live gig at a sold out Brisbane show on the weekend. The sound quality of the venue is average but shit did they make it sound good. I'd have to strongly disagree with anyone that questions the strength of the vocals or their fit to the music. These guys can do no wrong at the moment.
