Yeah I'm not rating her. As long as credit is given where credit is due, I don't see the problem.
I guess some people, the simpler ones, will think that she created the entire thing, but I'm assuming people passionate enough about music to be on sites like these know better.

the record is released under her name otherwise it'll be under 23 songwriters that no one knows who the fuck they are and also she is a great singer and the beats were made to complement her voice

it's not like most solo artists do 100% of the work solo anyway, that goes for just about any genre

Yeah fair enough I wouldn't expect a 22 yr old pop star to be playing the instruments or anything, but I feel that she should at the very least be writing her own lyrics and vocal hooks and melodies. That's an integral part of being a vocalist, otherwise your essentially just a karaoke singer with a good voice in my books.
I don't know I've always had a problem with mainstream artists in this regard.

being a good singer/performer is not mutually exclusive from being a good lyricist
you can be either, or both, or neither.

and for the record: she has writing credits in 7 of the 11 songs (standard edition)
and is listed as an executive producer for the album.

That still has nothing to do with the quality of the music itself though. I mean, I get where you're coming from but I just don't see the point in worrying about it.

A bit overlong, a tad inconsistent, and at times the lyrics dwell in typical genre subject matter. Nevertheless, Grande's beautiful vocals combined with the album's high energy and moments of ingenuity make this album well worth the listen.

I probably listen to this more than I should lol. But, the catchy quality is undeniable.

Wow, if this is really that good, I'll have to hear it eventually.

Try to find the Target bonus song "Jason's Song (Gave It Away)". This is seriously good stuff. Real drums, Jazz piano. Solos.

Holy inconsistent. The songs on here are either really great or just really trashy and bad, with barely anything in between, which seems to be the case with a lot of these mainstream releases.

this is deff. feeling more focused than her last two, which have been horribly bland outside of the singles.

eh, never really was a fan of her other stuff because they did just feel like they were designed as bait for specific singles and the rest would be disposable. her first two albums could be compiled into a rather killer comp when cutting out the fat.
