I loved her last album, FWIW, but I think both "genre experiments" or w/e you want to call them, Jack White Song and Country Song, are bad. I think "Hold Up," "Sorry," "All Night," and "Love Drought" have good ideas going for them, but I wouldn't even say one song on this is singularly satisfying. But 's all good tho

I think I don't like all the real, "analog" instruments on this album. Unfair though a disposition it may be, something about the production throws me into uncanny valley territory somehow. Wish especially that there were a different version of "All Night"

Can't stand how any discussion about Beyonce always has to be first about girl power, racial issues, sex appeal, etc. -- and take the focus off of the fact that her music is so fucking average.
This is a decent literature assignment btw, or newspaper editorial. Terrible music review.

album grew on me after a few listens. lyrically and thematically i think its really great (especially tied in with the visuals), but musically it sorta underwhelms a bit. hold up and freedom are so so good tho
