Oh boy I know. Even tho Lemonade equally deserves it

Lemonade is the only other legitimate choice, but I definitely prefer this. Sturgill's vocals are out of this world.

I only pay attention to the Grammys at this point if I'm rooting for something that got nominated, but now I'm wondering if even that's a stretch

What kinda surprises me is how Rock music was essentially completely left out of the Grammys. Apart from a eh performance from Metallica with gaga where James's mic wasn't even working, Rock music was all but left in the dust, which I find a shame because perennial bands like RHCP and Radiohead both released records, Bon Iver had a great release, and even young and up and coming bands like Cage the Elephant, who won best Rock group/performance/album (one of those) are a killer live act and could have used a bigger spotlight. Hell, their tribute to Prince was all pop glitz and I was waiting for some legendary rock guitarist to come out and slay the Purple Rain solo and was disappointed the didn't even play Purple Rain at all. Beyonce's performance was abysmal.

Another story from the night, how under the radar and unimpressive Katy Perry was, who you could argue is the reigning queen of pop top 40 music.

I'm so glad that I stumbled on this while looking for new metal to listen to. I rated this a 5 based off of originality and creativity in a genre that sincerely lacks both. I am a huge fan of country music and I don't say that lightly and I don't give out 5's lightly either.

I think the inherent biases of this sites demographic is showing in the review process. This album, if any country album at all in the last 5 years, deserves a 5. Show me a country album that portrays more originality and creativity and I'll recede my point.
If this were a metal album the bell curve would be further to the right.

I have to say, I just listened to this and I am quite impressed. I was raised listening to the country genre and have quite an unpleasant distaste for the genre as a whole now because of it. However, this feels like a breath of fresh air in what I would otherwise call a long-time stagnant genre. Like many others who have commented, I do feel "In Bloom" is slightly out of place on the album.. at the same time, I did still enjoy the track. Probably would have been better as a b-side, however. I hope this album lights a fire under new and upcoming artists in the Country genre as a wake up call to drop the stereotypes and the dull production that have plagued it for quite some time. Even if you despise the genre, I encourage you to listen to this with an open mind. Great album, in my opinion. Looking forward to more.

Looking back at all the Grammy's comments: This ia a pleasant album but Lemonade much more deserved it. Boundary pushing pop record, what a shame it did not win. I cannot believe Adele took the prize, her album was breezy and pleasant but nothing special.

Well it took me a year after the advice of a friend, to listen to this album. I'm not a fan of country but I am pretty close to 5-ing this.
