I may raise this to 4.5 but want to listen to the whole thing at least a couple times.

I don't not like pinkerton but I think it would be better if it were instrumental

But the lyrics are what make it so amazing. Gets me so fucking sad, incredibly powerful record. Especially the last two tracks god damn

"Perhaps the greatest song Weezer has written in over a decade, ‘Thank God For Girls’ marks the creative highlight of the band’s late career. "
I like to see this getting some attention and its a great album. but the lyrics of this song are so cringeworthy and stupid

Luls. I noticed cringeworthy moments on this album as well. Kinda seems like an album by The Academy Is or We the Kings in parts. Makes me wonder who made it through the intro of "California Kids" without declaring it the next "Pink Triangle" cuz it turns into We the Kings after that. Album isn't bad by any means but it feels like something you'd hear when ingesting lots of cologne walking through Hollister.
"Tired of Sex" is their best song, imo. And doesn't make me hate the vocals

There's some really cool subtle stuff going on here. Those quiet guitar lines in thank god for girl's chorus are shoved right behind everything in the mix, but my god they complement the song perfectly.

Not really going to bother weighing in on the subtleties of the album because it's like trying to defend the lyrics of Britney Spears. This is just outstanding, fun summer pop-rock and I'm OK with it.

summer huh?
it's snowing where I live rn so it's probably not the right time to listen to this, maybe that's why I'm not a huge fan of this

Album Rating: 4.5
Not summer here either and it actually dipped below freezing temps out (odd, we got snow this morning too) - but that's on the heels of several weeks of the weather warming up. Either way, I know this album will still be fresh when summer really hits.

maybe I bump this by then
I want to like this more, but all I keep getting from this is "eh"

To each his own
What's your favorite Weezer album?
|
| |
Album Rating: 3.0
probably their first album but even then my opinion is pretty much the same as this one, plus it's the only other album I really gave a proper listen to aside from Raditude and that was horrendous
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.5
You might just not like Weezer that much then
Can't say there's much hope for liking anything they do if their earlier "classics" draw relative indifference

Album Rating: 3.0
probably, then again it's been a long time since I've listened to it so I might change my view on it.
