Never a bad album from Ulver

I just want some more singing, it's not necessary but Garm has such a great voice.

A lot of this doesn't really need singing though, but I would really like Ulver to release something soon where there's more of Garm's voice. As you said, it is great. We haven't heard much of it since Childhood's End 4 years ago :/

this is cool. this band has such a fascinating progression in their career

So I was wrong about new Ulver, its actually decent.

This isn't even close to being among the best of their "newer" material.

idk it's not that far off imo

"This isn't even close to being among the best of their "newer" material."
Agreed. Not as good as Messe IMO, which wasn't as good as Shadows. But all three are fantastic albums.

This is sweet, but it's not fantastic by any means. Messe and especially Shadows are much better.
|

Yeah, no doubt this has some excellent material, but the album as a whole is not as gripping as Messe and Shadows, in my opinion. I think War of the Roses may have done more for me on first listen.

No way is Wars of the Roses better than this.
|
| |
Oh no. Not saying that. I just mean that the music on War was more immediate.

Reading comprehension has failed me.

No worries. My wording could have been clearer.

Wars is better than this but I don't know about Messe. Shadows is definitely their best post-bm release, they'll probably never top it.

It's their best release period.

Prob 2nd for me after Perdition City but it's close. Messe is right up there too.

Jaime epitomizing the pretentious music snob that lies within all us sput users..
Perdition City could be as good as Shadows if the second half was stronger, even if it does contain Nowhere/Catastrophe.

Sorry I meant to say I respectfully disagree with the implications of your comment.
