Gonna be hard to top this - the rest of the album isn't as mindblowing as the t/t for me, but still bloody brilliant

It's great yeah. A couple bad tracks, but overall quite good for the old pop geezer.

Lazarus grew on me a lot the past few listens. as a single, I wasn't too impressed but my feelings have changed when listening to the song in the context of the album

Yeah I like the lyrics of Lazarus. Some of the lyrics are kinda cringe-worthy though, like on the two explicit songs. Bowie is best when keeping it classy. t/t is still the best song like wow.

second to a good Zappa cringe haha

@Ars "Tis a Pitty" and "Girl Loves Me" have the explicit tag at least in the U.S.

Hmmm....

Blackstar > 'Tis a Pity She Was a Whore > Dollar Days > Lazarus > Sue (Or in a Season of Crime) > I Can't Give Everything Away >>>> Girl Loves Me

I'm not ready to condemn 'Girl Loves Me' as a total flop, I remember my initial thoughts with 'if you can see me' from The Next Day was that it's a shambles then it became one of my favourites from that album

Yeah... but some Zappa cringes (like the 3 on The Man from Utopia) are just painful lol

TBH: Blackstar is Bowie's best album in the last 20 years, but then again TBH, Blackstar shows the same Bowie of the last 20 years, but with an outstanding top class sax on every single track. That is THE plus. IMO.

The Next Day gave conventional Bowie like Valentine's Day and The Stars (two outstanding tracks)

Blackstar gives me the weird side of Bowie we all love like the title track and Lazarus

I'm a happy bunny

surprised so many people like the title track. for me that's easily one of the worst. had i seen all the comments itt talking about how the t/t is the best song on the album before i listened to this, i probably would have avoided it altogether tbh
