The eps are a lot less twinky. The post rock aspects are still there but there's more grit I'd say.

because pots hates it so comparing it to any other interesting genre is an insult to those genres. Black metal associations particularly up the cool factor of music because of the implication of it being evil or w/e.

What's funny about this, as I was just trolling the New Bermuda thread, is that album gets to savagely rip off Godspeed, particularly "Sleep" big time on Come back...and the interlude later on in the record, in addition to Oasis, sixpence none the richer and every basic ass thrash CHUG riff but somehow that album gets endless 4/5's on here with no mention of that. You hipsters are insane.

Disagreed. The intro to comeback is as egregious, the stroke pattern alone requires old man coney island samples. In any event, I think you and I should form a band together and do better . This place seems like its a nesting ground for shitty one man bedroom projects rating others works and I'm into collaborating.

I don't think enough hipster bands like these guys like rip off of Marilyn Manson or NOFX. Get to the Morbid Angel shout box guys...

That bit you're talking about is pretty much a Godspeed rip, but they also rip off Mono a lot more on this album. Pretty much the entire aesthetic of the album is a repackaging of For My Parents, and many of the melodies are rewrites of much of Hymn to the Immortal Wind.

Year end lists time. I find all this discussion fascinating cause there's so much baroque and soundtrack shit in here that posters fail to mention as influences ( I hear Purcell all over), even more so than Mono took from and this has none of the eastern feel that lot have. Early Godspeed lifted entire, I mean, entire chord progressions from Arvo Part and we let them slide cause either we didn't know or we loved it.I guess if you're limited to only hearing strings with post rock then thats gonna be your only reference point. Either way my only major knock with this album is they didn't go all the way.At this point take the "black" or whatever metal out. fuck it. Make a pretty drone/neo record and stop yelling at me.

it does not surprise me at all that post rock bands like godspeed have ripped off early composers. besides my time in high school playing tuba in a wind ensemble i do not listen to such music, so not like i would know
