This album has still been difficult for me to digest, very lengthy, hoping I can get a full listen in sometime.

After a detour or 2, imaginative multi-instrumentalist Casey Crescenzo & his band The Dear Hunter return to their ambitious concept series with 'Act IV: Rebirth in Reprise'. The broadway feel from 'Act III' is restored, in amongst the usual diverse array of genres & bold experimentation. As creative as it is grandiose, there are some truly majestic moments contained within these arrangements. The elephant in the room, however, is the 15 track, 75 minute duration, which feels a bit overwhelming at times, and results in some filler. 'Act II' remains the best in the series, but this moves into 2nd place. Recommended Tracks: A Night on the Town, Waves, Wait & The Old Haunt.
As far as long & ambitious 2015 concept albums go though, I prefer the Attalus LP.

This album is really good, but...
for some reason, I'm imagining Brendon Urie from P!atD singing a lot of these songs, and I imagine it would sound pretty good.

As a whole this album is great and might be my favorite act.

I prefer Color Spectrum because that had more of an experience. Kinda the same thing with me and the new Soilwork album.

"might be my favorite dear hunter, period...it's close between this and color spectrum"
Color Spectrum shits and stomps all over this. This was one of my most anticipated releases this year and I feel like I waited on a turd wrapped in gold.. I feel this album is really like a 1.5, but I won't go lower than a 2.5 because I like Casey and all his work (but this album blows besides "Waves")

Sometimes it's a bit too overly clean for my taste, but it sure as hell is a great album. It made me want to try the rest of their discog, but everything has such a massive scale, but what I've heard of it is about as good as this is

Well, I've returned with a new outlook on this album. Here's another full fledged song-by-song review
Rebirth- Best Dear Hunter intro. Edges out Writing on a Wall for that position.
The Old Haunt- Nice tune, not a huge fan of the ending and the direction it took.
Waves- Good song, nice contrast from The Old Haunt.
At the End of the Earth- Great song with some great vibes. Very repetitive but that's what's so great about it.
Remembered- Filler. I like the song, but they could've done so much in this space.
A Night on the Town- Amazing song, a lot of craftsmanship, but not the best on the album.
Is There Anybody Here?- Great song and gets stronger as it goes on. Also, fantastic solo by Casey.
The Squeaky Wheel- Best song on the album. Very multi-faceted and is extremely musically different from what The Dear Hunter has done in the past.
The Bitter Suite IV and V- Fantastic song(s). Very Mr. Malum-ish and fun to listen to and play on the drumset.
The Bitter Suite VI- Kind of boring, not really my kind of song. Fits very well though.
King of Swords- Very catchy, but not very interesting. Decent song.
If All Goes Well- Revoking everything I've said about this song in the past, this song is fantastic. The "Carry us to Eden part" is the highlight of the song and the main melody is very catchy.
The Line- The lyrics are what makes this song great. Good filler song.
Wait- A little Filth and Squalor-esque; decent enough but not really an integral song. Definitely the most disappointing of the 3 singles.
Ourobourous- Fantastic ending, fits very well with everything else.
Overall, great album. Best of the 4 acts thus far.
I'd also like to change my opinions on the other acts, too.
IV>III>I>II.

The solo at the end of "Is There Anybody Here?" just screams David Gilmour to me. So good though.
Hell, the whole tune kinda sounds like Floyd to me.
