Kayo Dot is the continuation of this, at least the first two albums are. Then the band explored other things, then Part The Second came out under this name, and Hubardo a few years later is a bit of a throwback to this sound. Nothing else Driver has done under the Kayo Dot name, or otherwise, really sounds like the first three maudlin records imo

Girl With a Watering Can is still one of my faves but this is not as consistent as I remembered it to be.

The more I listen to it the more I realize Interlude 2 is one of the most genius pieces of music written in under 2 minutes. It's so charming and innocent yet oddly melancholic

This album is surely a modern metal classic.

"It isn't really a metal album though" The core of this is doom metal though. Leaving Your Body map is even more on the death/doom side.

definitely, the opener is very nostalgic to me... used to have this reoccurring dream of getting a bath in an old metal bucket as a kid, the sound of this album and correlation with the name really spoke to me and haunted me on first listen

Haven't listened to the rest of the album yet but as far as my memory goes, I don't see what's nostalgic about this other than the opener which I can kinda see

I've always thought the death metal sections were pretty weak and always brought the package down for moi, so I've never been that big of a fan. Gonna give it another chance sometime later though
