Nothing wrong with an opinionated review, but if you can't justify your opinions convincingly then you shouldn't be writing as a member of staff.

But that's just like... your opinion man

When was the last time you actually thought about Envy? I don’t mean that as in the last time you listened to their music, but rather, when you remembered that they were an actual band. If you’re like me it’s been, well, five years. Which of course was when their last album, Recitation dropped to lukewarm reception. Yet this has always been the case with Envy, a band consistently on the back burner. Sure there’s been acclaim, but the band has been miles away from being a household name. They’re like that band you love to rep when you’ve got nothing else to talk about; a tertiary bullet point whenever the one talks about emo or post hardcore or whatever.

so good

So inaccurate*

I mean that may be how the reviewer sees them and they're not as popular as band likes Pianos Become the Teeth, but they have a decent following for a band of their style, especially for being Japanese

Envy are a dead sinking story.

Literally, they've made two great songs and the rest are turds (the split with Jesu is the only thing worthwhile about this band).

Review was most fitting as well, I don't even need to listen to this to say they truly are overrated.

recitation had a couple of fantastic tracks (rain clouds running in a holy night and a hint and the incapacity) and was good most of the time

can't say the same for this

To be honest, my rating for this will probably drop slightly when the hype wears off but I still find this great.

i can understand fans of a dead sinking story-era envy really enjoying this but honestly it seems like a backtrack with absolutely none of the great points of recitation (the amazing clean guitar work especially). i was really, really hoping they would build on that and they never did.

fuck it, lowering rating

I really haven't found fault in any of their work but I can understand why some don't like this. I like that they touched on their hardcore sound more on this one but I think the post-rock type tracks are great as well. Funny, the tracks people seem to like are the ones I thought most wouldn't like.

I already said in a previous comment that I'd probably drop my rating. I still think the album is great but not like All the Footprints or A Dead Sinking Story.
