your review was pretty good. everyone has their own taste in tool though. :P

this is a great album to listen to when you're playing halo 2. the instrumentals go along well if you're doing something constructive, as do many tool songs. it seems like maynard wasn't around too much for this album. if they do a next release, i think it will be much better.

I read an interview Adam Jones did with Guitar World, and he said they produce the music over Maynard because they think it would take away from the instrumentals and key points in songs.

On "The Pot" can anyone else here the echo on Maynards vocals at the begining. But you can here them before he says them. Is it a glitch or poor production? This Message Edited On 06.02.06

Maybe he did that on purpose, I meen, its Tool were talking about, and we all know Maynard loves the distorting his voice

I didn't say it took them 5 years to write 7 songs. I said: "Kinda' makes you wonder how they only wrote 7 songs in 5 years, doesn't it?" In 5 years, they have written and recorded 7 songs. That's a fact. It most likely took about half a year to write the album.

Good review, I agree about the outside genre review. It also, imo, doesn't quite stand up to some of their prior work.

"i dont like to hear maynard mumble"

I actually quite like the fact Maynard's quiet, as it kind of makes Wings Part I more emotional and therefore a better track (it is after all a eulogy to his mother). Wings I & II work a lot like Parabol/Parabola, you dont need to listen to the first part, but it really adds to the general feel if you do.

Its better with a low one and mumbling, it continues the dark and mysterious mood tool create in their music.

Your review blew man. You must not be a Tool fan if you are dissing perfectly awesome tracks.

All the tracks rock man.

10,000 Days is by far the best track.

I could go on an entire review, But that would hurt this poor guys feelings.

Rosetta Stoned is powerful. And Lipan Conjuring is just a filler, who cares I like it. If you want someone to review an album, Let an actually Tool fan do it.This Message Edited On 06.07.06

There are a couple of fan boy reviews up. Read them if you fear criticism of Tool so much. You are allowed to write negative reviews you know, the rating system insnt just so people can give Hawthorne Heights 1s (or 0s if possible).

10,000 Days is, in ways, in the same vein as Lateralus, but the differences allow it to stand on its own. To say that the new album is merely regurgitation of the previous one is to say Pink Floyd’s Meddle and Wish You Were Here are the same simply because they both have two part songs. Yeah, Adam Jones’ guitar style melds the two, but that’s because he’s the same person. Any given person will say “hi” the same way five years apart. With tracks like “The Pot” and “Rosetta Stoned” along with thought provoking tracks like “Vicarious” and “Right In Two”, 10,000 Days is a great album, whether or not Tool sounds like a different band. I, personally, see both albums as unique as any other, but if I wanted the band to change everything about them from one album to the next I’d slap a Tool sticker on the front of a 50 Cent album and call it quits.

With that out of my system, I think your review was very well done, although I do disagree on some things. When I first listened to the album, I thought it was a bit mediocre for Tool. Upon listening to it afterwards I grew to appreciate its conceptual feel rather than looking for a “Sober” or “Prison Sex” in there. “Right In Two” is a great track, in my opinion, even aside Tool’s standards. Stating how humans have free will, but still chose conflict, is an exact sentiment of how things are and have always been. “Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned”, stating a story of how someone was told how to save mankind, but somehow forgot it, is the slight comic relief as “Hooker w/a Penis” was on Aenima. I do, however, agree with you on the guitar and bass on this album. There definitely is a lot to listen to on here.

Justin Chancellor is one of my favorite bass players and i thought he really shined on this record, especially on vicarious and 10 000 days.

All reviews should rate albums 5/5, obviously

WTF? this reviewer doesnt know whats they're saying. First he'll be saying how its good, then the next sentence will be about how a song from a previous album was better. If your gonna compare everything instead of just listen and soak it in then your bound to disappoint yourself. In opinion, I dont think reviews should be made until a few years after the release. That gives you time to understand the ideas its trying to get across along with an appreciation for the little tiny details of the sound of it. if that makes sence...
