you've never wanted to steal a firetruck and run over EVERYBODY on the footpath?

In all honesty, doing all that stuff makes me feel a bit off.
I'd rather be a paragon saving the galaxy, doing good deeds and blowing me beans in a blue alien with a top set of jugs.

This is pretty great. As a PF album this is kinda unnecessary and strange but as a standalone album this is really solid.

By Floyd standards it was always going to get critical. But agreed, think of it as a standalone and you're golden.

Ugh. I just don't understand the constant "I don't like instrumentals" complaint I keep reading. You mean you don't like jazz? Symphonic? Ambient? Surf rock? These people are cheating themselves out of several lifetimes' worth of incredible music because "it don't have no words." I'm not trying to be elitist or a hipster or anything but come on, open your minds a little, people!

The fact that this is almost entirely instrumental is almost certainly it's saving grace. As a result, it's bearable.

i've only heard the Final Cut once, haven't heard Division Bell

Yep, it's essential to listen firstly to TDB.

The Final Cut is not necessary for this specific purpose (even if if you're at this point of Pink Floyd studio career, you should have already done it!), but it is highly recommended if you liked The Wall or other Waters' works. It isn't an immediate album, a very good one nonetheless. Very underrated here and elsewhere.
