Some of the string swells are embarrassing. Maudlin and mawkish, his lyrics elicit more than a few eye-rolls. Earnestness and the soft/loud dynamic basically comprise his complete arsenal. Is that a sex joke on "Trusty and True"? I had a good laugh anyway.
