still incredibly boring and sterile with no soul or energy

It seems At The Gates were At War With Reality when they decided to make this album.
|
| |
I liked this album because it was so throwback to the kind of shit I used to listen to all the time tbh
|
| |
so how prominent is the metalcore influence on this album?
|
| |
welp actually listening to this and it's not as bad as i expected it to be but it still sucks pretty hard, pretty much SOTS pt 2 to a t
tompa is def still tompa but noticably more metalcorish in his vocal approach
and the generic metalcore production doesn't help much
|
| |
as with SOTS there's a few decent moments here and there but can't say i'll ever realistically listen to this again
|
| |
Yeah I can't believe I actually listened to it
|
| |
I mean this is a solidish album but it offers absolutely nothing new or exciting

This is honestly pretty okay and it has its moments, but the whole album would be so much better (low-ish 4) if they just sped up most of the tracks by about 20 bpm

the playing sounds pretty lazy and passionless, so speeding it up probably would've forced their performances to sound like they actually cared.

yeah the tempo on this bitch is waaaay too slow.

Yeah I mean the mid paced moments like in Book of Sand work but most of the riffy stuff is just kinda too slow, first 2 tracks are at a reasonable tempo but so much of this just feels too slow.

SotS is my fav of theirs, but i kind of wished they would go back to their older style for this

Wasn't a big fan at first, but it really grew on me over time.

If this band had any hopes of making a successful comeback record, they would have gotten Alf Svensson to come back.
