O malley fact 445 mix is probably the best thing I've heard from this year
|

while that is near accurate it also suggest you should listen to more music from this year

I don't think this collab will fade away like the Ulver one because this will be a notable moment in Scott Walker's musical history.
(The last thing he puts out before he dies)

Scott's got a while tbh
he's been relatively healthy for such an advanced age.

To be honest, when Jack Bruce of Cream died the other day at the same age it made me think of that. That's going to suck.
I really hope he can last another decade at least and continues to create the whole time. I love seeing artists productive so late in their life, it shows how much it means to them.
And, I mean, I hate to see people die too. There's that.

Of course. Lulu was a sloppy, inept mess. Beyond the fact that this is an old guy playing with a "metal" band there is really no comparison. And Sunn O))) already had a background of not playing conventional "metal".
On Lulu Metallica just busted out boring, uninspired power chord riffs out of place underneath Lou Reed's off key, scratchy vocals. And Lou Reed never really could sing, and that didn't age well or work with loud riffs. In the case of this album, Sunn O)))'s droning guitar backdrop and ambiance makes sense with Scott Walker's period work and his aged but on point vocals.
Yes, both albums have strange and humorous lyrics, but the delivery and content of Lulu's was far more ridiculous.

Well, Metallica are pretty much the prototypical post 80s by the numbers heavy metal act. I don't see the problem with saying Sunn O)) and Metallica aren't the same sort of "metal" at all and Sunn O))) have shown their ability to break from metal entirely in some of their collaborations.

One of the big issues with Lulu is that Metallica busted out (uninspired) thrash riffs underneath Lou Reed's bizarre poetry being shouted at a volume he couldn't even seem to keep up with. Metallica's guitar riffs were dull and couldn't carry the songs anywhere in their extended length and Lou Reed couldn't hold a tune or keep a beat all. It was kind of sad.
That's an issue you won't find on this album. Sunn O))) are more suited for creating a sonic backdrop for something more out there like this because they are experienced with that sort of territory. (Even though Scott Walker wrote the songs and plugged their sections in)

Nice to see that youtube ads of it are going around, though. I heard this album reached 30 in the UK charts (not sure what charts, though)
