NecroPhil De Profundis people who complain about opeths "new" direction (srsly,70s prog was ALWAYS a integral part of opeths music) are usually airheaded metaldudes,or dumb americans.american audiences are generally to dumb to appreciate the merits of real art and project their fast food mentality unto it.i bet half of you never even heard records like "in the court of the crimson king" , "red" or enjoyed bands like emerson lake and palmer or camel.it's 2014 and you guys still want to hear death metal from a guy who worked with steven wilson and creates tasteful and unique records? the 90s are over, who needs a death metal record in 2014 anyway? if i want death metal i'll listen to old entombed or bolt thrower albums.you guys are the proof that this "scene" and the metal genre are as dead as it gets, some band has to come up and "reboot" this once glorious and awesome genre of music,or it will regress to a nostalgia thing.

Mikael's clean voice is just too nice-sounding for this type of music

Though he does get gritty at times here and it sounds pretty good surprisingly
