Perfect blend of The Wonder Years and The Mountain Goats imo.

pretty sure any blend that includes twy isn't ever close to "perfect"

"4 ratings on RYM god dam this is another one of those albums isn't it?"

rym tends to be extremely blissfully ignorant of the metalcore/pop punk/warped tour scene. lucky people, i tells ya.

Awesome review man! Honestly the lyrics are too damn blunt for me, but they bring the feels pretty hard.

people need to stop comparing this record to Mountain Goats; sure they inspired soupy but if you understand the aesthetic of the mountain goats this sounds nothing like it

the cover is prett good IMO soupy's kind of just doing the same thing as John but with his own voice and it's good to hear soups getting all emotional there

I think there is definitely something here. I love Soupy's work, but it's just so dark. May it is all too surreal for me. The story just takes an unpredictable gloomy turn after 'Our Apartment.' It starts off with the angst and anger of a breakup to an entirety of losing a baby (I'm guessing a miscarriage?). I understand these are real things that happen but holy cow.

Maybe give me a little while to get more into it.

might bump btw. the songs that didn't really click with me at first like "our apartment" are starting to click and it's wonderful

I only listened to it once but it hit me harder than I thought it would. if people don't like TWY, they probably won't like this, so I imagine it'll get all the same hate they do

"this dude writes music for 16 year old girls and dumbass twenty-somethings whose idea of nostalgia is
curling up with a natty ice while you listen to tell all your friends and look at your reflection in a
puddle of your spittle and tears, weeping for your privilege-checked lame-ass 2000s life in suburbia"
