Yeah, I know I was a bit of a dick bringing the whole thing up unsolicited, sorry - and it also wasn't the most eloquent censure. I'd jsut gotten home after quite a bit of wine, and had been speaking to a friend of mine involved in LGBT* work about the album art, when I saw the review on the home page. Still stand by what I said though, by understanding public perception and having discussions/the opportunity to change it, and refusing, thy're effectively promoting that perception, regardless of intent.
Thank you for being a good human being about this. Sorry I went apeshit but I value art for what it is and not what's it's perceived to be. If they were to backoff their artwork than what would the message be sending out to anyone who values artistic integrity? I'm personally offended by Britney Spears artwork because she looks like a school-girl whore and her influence over a young demographic could be seen as something devaluing sexual morals(like this artwork). However, I get that her value in art is to have no dignity at all and I respect her artistic dignity on that fucked up level.
I hope you read the interview with Charlie Fell, that should clarify some thing.
