Actually they kinda are, at least in some circles. Overall they're still death metal, but they're often credited with beginning the seeds of deathcore.

Of course they kind of border on being one of the originators of slam/brutal death metal, but the two genres are pretty similar in ways

The only have that label cause some noobs dont realise that just because a genre

There's some grindcore in their sound I guess, but lol at deathcore, they're technical death metal.

Suffocation would be lucky to be considered a deathcore band imo. If they came out in the mid 2000's they wouldn't have not lasted a moment.

I've definitely heard them credited as inspiring a lot deathcore, but like I said, still death metal primarily



also thought they lean more toward brutal death than tech death, never seemed that tech to me

Yeah they are defs brutal technical death metal not technical brutal death metal.
