That one took a while to grow on me (which means this one might too) but I think the songwriting on it is stronger. You have the understated smoothness of Intern, the punchy pop rock of the first half (pretty much all of which are better than the more "rock" songs on this imo), the wonderful builds of Woman and Sister, the rawness of Pops as the closer... Idk this one just doesn't match it so far.
This is perfectly fine too but it just sounds more like a standard singer-songwriter album to me. I think she matured a lot as a vocalist, songwriter, and arranger between this and My Woman.

She got boring, agree'd.

In fact I can almost hear her improving just over the course of this album. It starts out really weak but gradually she then quality increases and she sounds more assured of herself by the end. Or maybe that's intended to be the arc of the album and I'm just missing the point entirely?

Lark I'll check out her first album but I doubt I'll enjoy it more than this.

How does it compare to this and My Woman in terms of style/sound? I would imagine it's more lo-fi than this?

I wouldn't call it lo-fi at all. Her ep is pure lo-fi tho so you prob wouldn't like that

I mean I guess this isn't really lo-fi either, only relative to My Woman.
If Half Way Home isn't lo-fi then what is it? Similar to this?
And I mean I have no issue on principle with lo-fi stuff I just don't think it suits her vocals very well.

Oh yeah forgot about Zevon
You heard many of my alt-country recs yet?
lol I think I have to stop taking recs for now after all that stuff I downloaded (see my most recent list)

Boney tbh I think you'll like her debut more than any other of her albums. It's quite a surprise I didn't expect.

interesting you say that this one starts off weak and gets stronger, 'cause it's pretty much the opposite for me. Like I said, unfucktheworld and f/f are two of my favorites from here. Idk in general I'd say my woman just sounds like she's trying too hard. Like it's not really all her but a lot of outside influence creeping in. Different strokes tho. At least she's evolving

Both of those first two songs are pretty unremarkable lyrically, Unfucktheworld is pretty boring and amateurish musically, and Forgiven/Forgotten comes across as a heavy-handed attempt at what she would do much better in the first half of My Woman.

She really took this formula to the next level in My Woman.

I don't find unfucktheworld "boring" at all. Its repetition gives it tension and power. It sets you right on edge which is why it's such a good opener. And no the lyrics aren't very decorative or whathaveyou, but they don't need to be. They depict a crucial moment with the precision it deserves. As far as f/f goes, I don't think it sounds remotely like anything on my woman- as it's actually get some edge to it. I think we look for slightly different things when it comes to this type of music my man haha

unfucktheworld is easily my favorite here
