Ok I gotta evangelize. I'm a sucker for bands like this that pair technical instrumentation with melodic earworms. I just need to tell somebody to listen to this band that I've never seen posted about and who certainly doesn't have a Sput listing.
Their name is generic and matches a dozen other bands, so I guess their SEO is gonna suck: Firmament.
It's possible I've made this same post before and forgot, but it's been a couple months without listening and I'm hooked all over again.
Check out "After Me, The Flood" and "Angels in Vermilion" by Firmament, I promise they're bangers that'll get stuck in your head like they have mine. GAH they're so talented. Hope they keep making more music.

Yessss glad you think so!
The older I get, the more cynical with music. I don't have time for musicians painting by numbers or pandering or trying to sell a product. I want heartfelt music. So to me, the golden finds are those in which the musicians, but more apparently the vocalists, are giving passionate, earnest performances with lyrics that sounds like they really mean something to the vocalist. And Firmament has that in spades: nimble fun, dynamic, catchy heavy music paired with fun acrobatic vocals. The way some of their songs build in momentum and cap off is just beautiful.
Not a ton of songs under their belt but they can be huge if they keep pushing.
I'm failing to remember the name of the song right now but oddly enough they have one that just SOARS into instrumentals that remind me exactly of Doppelganger-era Fall of Troy and I get a massive dump of serotonin every time. Found it! Liquid Lush @ 2:00.
Their lyrics and name point a lot to Christianity without it being explicit, but they seem like very spiritual people and that's cool too.

DAAAAANG DAWG U GOT PIPES
Seriously the concept of singing and hitting *any* note at all is foreign to me, so nailing a tricky cover like ICO is v impressive
