i see it's cool to hate protest now, this pretty much sounds like kezia meets fortress so i dont see what everyone's upset about.

how on earth did you even come to that

drumhead trial would be at home on kezia
and the comment about metalcore breakdowns in this review.... where is there a "metalcore breakdown"
on this entire album i'm confused

@ breakdown dude how do you expect someone that thinks Rody's vocals sound like power metal vocals to know what a real breakdown sounds like

'both seen as early saviors of metal both are pretty much a parody of themselves, albeit trivium is a way worse joke'
this makes zero sense

i lol'd at whoever said pth sounds like dillinger playing power metal

and this sounds plenty like Kezia, just a bit more technical i'd say. fuck, all their albums sound
similar enough. the sing-a-long part on Mist reminds me of Divine Suicide of K

i dont think i'd ever consider trivium a "savior of metal" though ascendancy was a fun album when it came out forever ago when i was a teenager. i don't even consider protest the hero as a "savior of metal" though they're more qualified for that title than trivium on the sheer solidity of their back catalog.

if anyone ever said trivium was a savior of metal (or even pth) or that metal even needed a savior, they need a swift kick in the head

I'd like to hear a well-reasoned argument as to how Rody's vocals aren't reminiscent of power metal. I dig his voice, but I definitely think there's a correlation.

theyre not awful

is it that far off though
|

no just the fact that that comparison is completely unfounded and silly. and mainly just the
problems
this reviewer had with the album seemed to be him digging up random shit to use as more backing
other
than "i don't like rody". which is 100% understandable as he's kind of the most polarizing element
of
the band. but like why just bs other stuff?
but just the lines about "breakdowns" and "sweeping" where really in reality there isn't much (or
any
of the first) of that at all. there's a fuckton of tapping but that sounds so totally
different. there are very few lyrics about "booze and debauchery" because most of the songs aside
from
mist (because rody apparently just loves newfoundland) have a very obvious message.
