This is pretty meh. I miss the days of the Fragile. Maybe I'm just not a NIN fan. Tho I am seeing them in October.

The chorus guitar on Disappointed is ripped directly from the intro to Letting You haha
Album still rules

i like the poppy songs (everything, satellite) the most. they are coming from a genuine place. all the mopey songs sound feigned and thus are pretty damn boring. i hate when an artist blatantly tries to appease a fan base instead of just making the music he wants

I'm old school. Waited to buy the CD. As a long time fan I'll admit that I was a bit nervous heading into this. Some of what I had heard made me wonder if NIN wasn't going to sound more like HTDA. But having now listened to this a few times on a decent quality stereo.... as oppose to computer speakers, I can say that Hesitation Marks is absolutely brilliant. Soooo many good songs on this release. I'm blown away by Satellite and In two. In fact it's probably easiest for me to talk about the Songs I like the least on this CD (Running, and I would for you) since I think the rest of them are top notch.
Has NIN changed? Absolutely. But not in the way you might think. Look no further than the song titles for evidence this is still NIN. All Time Low, Disappointed, Came back Haunted, does this sound like happy go lucky music to you? The difference isn't in the themes, it's in the aggression. Trent is pushing 50 and to get fucked up and destroy equipment on stage wouldn't be sincere anymore. It would be an act. And I appreciate The fact that Reznor respects us enough not to put us through that.
Trent is still dealing with all the same issues, he's just doing it from a different place. Instead of feeding it he's fighting it. And if you are long time NIN listener....hopefully you are too.

I agree, after a few spins the album becomes catchy as fuck. In two blasting on a good stereo, especially the guitar part towards the middle is awesome.

I just couldn't get into this, and I gave it time too. The songs just don't have enough unhf to them to be quite honest

gotta have that unhf
