I never liked them... I tolerated them, until Nightmare. The way the vocals are harmonized always took away from sound, and more clean singing just made it worse (in my opinion).

I don't need a band to be heavy... I didn't 5 Animals by Pink Floyd because it was brutal. If I want melodic or groove based metal I listen to more Meshuggah or Gorguts. Sure they are heavy, but they get the job done.

You just committed an appeal to probability fallacy in your argument. You assumed I hate the new Avenged Sevenfold because of their lighter sound because I lean towards the extreme metal side. That is not the case. I do not prefer their heavier sound, I merely dislike the man's singing voice (and his harsh vocals were nothing spectacular either).

Watch out for that, you can find yourself picking your own teeth off the pavement if you do it to the wrong person.

Plus the dip in lyrical quality and unoriginal artwork make me feel like they aren't putting much effort into the details like they used to.

Animals is incredible. Not quite a 5, but still a 4.5 for me.

Alright, fair enough you have proven me wrong. I totally understand disliking a singing voice. So now that I know why you dislike them I can understand that. I had to assume since I didn't know why you were disliking them. I personally really like Matt's voice and think it's a really great voice and that him going clean vocals was a great idea, allowing him to use true potential but hey, that's my opinion and you have yours, which I totally get and respect.

the artwork is confusing me, I really liked the original concept for the Hail To The King, which is now the singles artwork, but at the same time I don't really mind I mean the deathbat is a big symbol in their music and with the singles art they show they still have the ideas. Also the lyrics don't bug me much I personally don't think they are terrible, much better than some peoples and much better than I could ever write. But some people care more about lyrics than I do, actually most people. Lyrics don't bug me much so don't take my opinion on that topic to serious.

If post was similar to this, the entire website would be very different.

Well his clean singing use to be better. After he shot his vocals they got worse.

Honestly the reason they'll get lots of hate is their popularity and their perceived appeal to the Call of Duty/ Dude bro crowd. But hey, you dig what you dig. I use to be really into them years ago, but taste changes as you explore more music.

Anyway man, don't waste too much energy trying to defend a band, opinions will stay the same and you'll only end up frustrated. Especially on a site like sputnik, I love Fall Out Boy and I know they get a lot of shit and I'll get a lot of shit for liking them but fuck it. This is a really great site for finding new music, so give it a chance in that regard, and keep liking what you like. I respect that.

It's not easy to find. I found a small group of people in this site that are usually very respectful to each other. The prog rock audience likes being in friendly numbers these days. It's how them and I thrive on this site.

I find myself incredibly bored while listening to this. Painfully average at best. I'm not jumping on the I hate Avenged Sevenfold bandwagon, but this album blows chunks.

fall out boy, really? Hey I used to listen to them and I have no problem with you listening to them and yeah I try not to get sucked into the hate but this site just overwhelmed me with hate at A7X and I just had to go tooth and nail to get it heard that someone likes them. I knew people wouldn't like them because of me it was never my intention just to not let it be all A7X hate party in here lol just had to come on and voice my opinion on everything and now that it's over with and I calmed down and got to really just talking with people it's a lot better haha

Music aside, they really need to work on their album art. WTF, Self-titled and this are basically the same.

A band needs to have a handful of bad albums for me to "hate" them. They have enough good/decent material to keep them treading water. Fans of the last few albums should like it, newcomers should start elsewhere.

Album blows chunks [2]
