When these records came out, they were extreme; thrash metal or not, especially Reign In Blood. Out of all the bigger Thrash bands I listened to at the time.. they had that edge so-to speak. I'd imagine if their not extreme most bands categorized as such were listening to Slayer.
Perfect place holder between RiB & Seasons, they were on fire, seriously!
I don't know what I'd call them now? Fuckin' Slayer, man.

"i was just saying that as people they are braindead"
You're referring to the Trump photo thing, yeah?

lmao haven't seen that until now. I don't really get the point of the picture, but it's always fun seeing people get pissed off because of dumb shit like that.

I'm no Trump supporter but I don't think they're "braindead" for trolling. Even if they support Trump, they have their reasons, even if I likely disagree with most of them.

"Earlier today, Slayer sparked controversy when singer Tom Araya shared the below photoshopped image of the band posing with Donald Trump. In the caption, Tom Araya criticized “snowflakes commenting their distaste for the new president,” adding, “Like him or not he is the president.” Later, in the comments section, he wrote this: “Mike pence turning fruits into vegetables.” Then, after clarifying that he doesn’t speak for the whole band, he noted, “the picture did exactly what I thought it would do... piss some of you off.” Now, it appears that the rest of Slayer have distanced themselves from Araya’s post."
It was fun retarded trolling until I found that Pence comment. What the fuck, man?

Eh, people are way too damn sensitive. As far as the Pence comment goes, it seems like Tom knows how to continually push people's buttons. I thought the photo was relatively funny.

before this thread goes down in flames: sputnik shouldn't be a venue for political discussion, we're here to talk about how rad slayer is, not trump's policies, or araya's leanings

Right Budgie, just adding my two cents. Personally, it's always about the music, I don't pay attention to anyones personal views; it's all jibber jabber. Outro to Mandatory? Oh, man! It's a goodn'

i don't think i've ever listened to it. i like haunting the chapel and hell awaits a LITTLE bit but everything with and past reign of blood just does nothing for me

Gotcha, hey man I like those. At least try 'South of Heaven' track. You know I love Show No Mercy too, it's all good bud. Different vibes here Budge, if you didn't like the others I'd have a hard time imagining this one would win you over. I will say this is different than Reign and the ones that came before. Slowed down, but still heavy! People flipped their lid when this came out after Reign, crazy!

Tom Araya is a fucking moron but this album can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned
Also Tom's easily the weakest link here tbh

Best Slayer post-Reign In Blood. Everything else pales in comparison.

i actually really don't dig the vocals in south of heaven. maybe i just don't like araya's style, and show no mercy makes up for it with rad riffs :/

All good bro, I gotcha. Figuring, SNM is pretty different it doesn't surprise me if someone would only like that record, plus y'know it rulez. Reaks of british metal, and its agressive, love it! Ha ha, only gripes I have with early slayer records is the production being shitty.
