Good, so I'm not the only one who thought about that.

And yeah, Alligators in the sewers

After several listens I still think this is way better than high violet, and certainly way more accessible.

I'm tempted to bump this to 4 cos overall I enjoy it more than some 4s I have, but usually I don't do that for albums where I don't even listen to half the songs. It's just the other half is so good.

Fireproof is my least favorite song on this, but it's very good still.

This is the first The National album I've listened to (though, I have High Violet & Alligator in my library) and I wasn't incredibly impressed. There are a handful of excellent songs and several more bland tracks, but overall, it was just an above-average Alt. Indie Rock album...hmm. How do the other albums compare to this one?

Boxer is the one most similar to this one.

boxer and high violet are both pretty similar to this. alligator has a more raw feel, almost punky on some tracks

The Sunday Times's review for this is interesting. He says he loved Alligator, Boxer and HV from the start, but that this is proving to be more a grower. And he ends it on that.
