ALA, jerry cantrell, lead guitarist, songwriter, occasional singer, especially on this album, he sings in 'would?' too ahah.

Jerry Cantrell, he's the lead guitarist. He does harmonies with Layne, it's not all Layne singing.

And yeah Dan I love it, I'm gonna give it another listen later.

Soundgarden were pretty much a metal band during the early years, i know you haven't spun it yet but badmotorfinger is a good example of that, and it's pretty amazing too ahah.

Whereas facelift and dirt are heavy metal, and this one draws more influence from sludge metal. And yeah jerry is legendary :]

Soundgarden definitely had a lot of metal in their sound early on. These guys were always heavier, though.

Alice basically was a metal band.

I'm jamming every fucking Alice album today it's been so long.

Yeah ALA the doom influence is pretty prevalent in alice, whereas in soundgarden it's more sporadical. Like 'slaves and bulldozers', you have to hear that tune ALA.

I can see where you're coming from ALA, but they aren't like complete desert.

"lmao i'm seriously the only one who thinks that they have a huge desert-like sound?"

hmm maybe ahah. i mean there's a few bits here where i could pick out a 'desert rock' influence but overall i'd say that's only a small part of their sound.
