Just in case anybody was wondering, these guys kick balls live!
I just got back from seeing them for the first time. Casey is probably the best live vocalist I've ever seen! Too bad they played in the worst venue in the entire state!

to escape to ESCAAAAAAAPE

Extremely disappointed with this album. Really sad because this is my favorite band. I swear, all the songs sound the same. A much more depressing and tired sounding vibe. Just my opinion though. Acts ii/iii and spectrum changed my life, so maybe my expectations were too high.

It also sounds like Casey's voice has changed much from act ii and iii. It just isn't the same..

Pretty damn good album, but, some of the songs here are just flat out boring.

Let Go and Whisper are actually fucking amazing tbh.

Bring You Down is also a killer song too

This Vicious Place always singlehandedly sucks me back into this album. One of my favorite songs by TDH or anyone

Also oddly really enjoy Cycles. It's a lot less formulaic than the rest of the album, and I dig the thicker/darker atmosphere in it

I finally gave this a listen. I've always loved Whisper but I could only make it through like the first few songs of this for whatever reason.
Girl to the end was outstanding. great album.

Bumped this to a 5
Still Casey's best album

Oh, this is gorgeous. Definitely better than Act I, maybe better than Act III. The Acts have the benefit of the concept though, it adds a lot, since there are so many leitmotifs

i dont think girl is one of the best songs ever made anymore lol rip

Returned to this album after a few years, and it's held up so well. I was originally salty about it not being an "Act", I was a moron, this is a great album! Let Go is a top tier TDH tune. So pumped for Antimai now!

Might be on the fence about bumping this up to a 4.5... I have no idea where people are coming from calling this "mid" or "boring".

its cause its boring, at least the majority second half

You must be listening to something different than I am. Being more "chill" and subdued than the rest of TDH's discog in NO way makes it boring. Boring would be retreading already well-worn material for the band and not changing their sound as they develop as musicians (ala post-reunion Carcass).
