Finally got a chance to catch up on some new music. Started off with this one, and really enjoying it. To me, this is as good as the last one.

Not digging it yet. Viva Emptiness and Great Cold Distance are their masterpieces, imo.

So, finally listened to it 4 times today and the verdict is that the album is brilliant. It is easy to let Katatonia's music fade in the background, and it would not be entirely out of the question, considering that the last album was a slight let down from its two predecessors. But, hell, this one is probably the best yet. The sound, the song writing, the performance and the production are all very high quality. There is the mellowness that characterizes Katatonia's music of late but there is also solid intensity, even a couple of very tasteful guitar solos. It can hardly escape from seasoned ears that these guys craft songs with skill and passion, combining musicianship and simplicity with expertise.

If I ever get around to listening to this, it'll probably be 3.5-4.0 like the rest of their stuff.

reminds me of Katatonia from a couple albums back, diggin' this one more than I expected. Not that I hated Night is the New Day, but this feels like an improvement for sure.

I love Katatonia, but I dislike this album more with each listen.

There's too many disney sounding moments which makes some of the songs sound gay and cheesy.

I think this is probably my least favorite Katatonia record. Don't really know how to verbalize it but these last two records just don't have the same feel I loved so much that ran through the rest of their catalogue. A good record all the same though

Yeah, I enjoyed it. Problem is that the album doesn't lift off anywhere, it stays on the same, almost monotone, level.

I actually bought this on the day - a rarity if I'm not big on the band - just because of the album artwork, it blew me away.
