wait so I can't write about an album I like without over praising it? that literally makes no sense
no offense taken by the way, and i'm not arguing for arguments sake i'm genuinely confused as to what you're talking about

"I think I'm the only one that doesn't think Rivertown Blues is one of the stronger tracks"
Get outta here, man.

If you want to complain about a review (and not the actual album yourself), you should make a review yourself, or a soundoff.

i can criticize your opinion, correct?
can i also talk about your novel you wrote about for an album that isn't that amazing?
i get what you mean. yellowcard have grown with us, but your affection affected your rating and it's so clear, by, just about everything happening with this review
|
| |
i may. but i like yellowcard, like a lot. but at times i feel like i'm the only who holds perspective. and i get that sometimes emotion overrides, like, everything, but come one, it's yc. also, i feel like this hasn't been stated enough, i love yeallowcard

I know, but you're making a big deal for some reason. There will always be varying opinions for everything, for example: I have this rated lower than you and Sowing has this higher than you.
Also, Yellowcard is far from nostalgic for me, I was in 2nd grade when Ocean Avenue came out.

your affection affected your rating and it's so clear
well, uh...duh?
affection (noun): a fond attachment, devotion, or love
So what you're saying is me liking this album caused me to praise it highly
|
| |
why is there a comment section? confused

To talk about the album.

Please don't misunderstand me.
I don't care whether or not you agree with this review. I encourage different opinions. But your opinion is that opinions shouldn't influence a review. What am I supposed to base the review off of other than my opinion?

Controlled, what I'm getting from you is that Sowing loves this band, that's why he gave it a 4.5. But you also love this band, and you gave it a 3.5. You seem to suggest that Sowing's rating is too biased (thusly implying that yours is not). And you have a problem with that...
Perhaps I'm miscalculating, but I'm detecting a lot of pretention here. Sowing wrote like 3 pages worth of why he thinks it should be a 4.5. And yet...
|
| |
did you stop reading there?
i feel like we're all getting bitter and that's far from my intention; my main thing was you let your affection take hold of the rating.

No, you just seemed to restate your previous comment over again.
|
| |
i dunno. i suppose i'm wrong. we all think about how to rate an album differently, but again that's why there's a comment section. to comment correct? i was just commenting

I get that you think I'm biased, but just because an opinion is different from yours doesn't mean it is wrong
And no one's saying you can't comment, but just like you can say my review is biased I'm allowed to say that I think otherwise
I'm not bitter, just talking
|
| |
i understand. i guess my thinking was you're staff. there shouldn't be a bias (that large). i dunno.
just my thinking
|
| |
however you do defend your opinion well, it all just seems so irrelevant to me

"I think I'm the only one that doesn't think Rivertown Blues is one of the stronger tracks"
I agree. Actually, I think it sucks.
"If you want to complain about a review (and not the actual album yourself), you should make a review yourself, or a soundoff."
Don't be a moron. The whole point of a comments section is to critique a review (and to discuss the music). Where else would it be done?
Anyways I think controlled's point was that your review seems really personal, in a fanboy way. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing, or implying it applies here, but it's definitely possible that someone could let their fanboyness override their judgment and force-enjoy an album just for the sake of the band. I did that with Red's latest album, and only a year or two later did I realize how much I overrated it, because I wanted to like it so badly.
Not sure if it applies to you or not. It's not like you're predisposed to liking YC albums anyways; you weren't to keen on When You're Through... IIRC at first.

he's touched on what i've wanted to touch on. i think you let your personal life influence why this album should be as good as you say it is, instead of saying why it's good.
