Agree with Mongi, although HT is pretty much nostalgia too. Both HT and Meteroa are fun.

Why don't you like breaking the habit? Keep in mind Mike wrote that song too.

I'm recalling just how massive Hybrid Theory was when it came out. Everyone and their mother had that album. You would also hear LP songs constantly on the radio.

Like I said, I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate fake repentance "I am breaaaaaking the habit (except I am not cause I will still be angry on other albums) tonight"

Maybe it is just how I read lyrics, but the lyrics matched with the dull music writing just winds me up.

LOL no that song is about kicking the habit of drug use, not being angry.

I was 9 I believe when HT came out. Every single one of my friends at school knew One Step Closer, In the End, and Crawling.

I thought Crawling was the weakest song in HT. I don't understand why that song had to be the grammy winner

Mongi, yes and no. Besides, I don't know if I buy them as drug addicts either.

And again, it is such a dull ass song. When you have tracks like "Session" and "Nobody's Listening", "Breaking The Habit" just feels so bland.

it's a single tho it has to be bland for the masses to digest it easily

That song is about Mike's friend I believe. Not himself. And Chester actually was hooked on shit as a teenager.

Funnily enough, your point reminds me of how baffled I am that some are hoping on the Lorde bandwagon. Talk about bland, easily digestible junk that has, like, a message or something.

Anyway, the reason why I love "Lies" is that it is so up beat that the screaming feels almost sarcastic. It is the only track where the electronic elements don't feel tacked on.

I don't see your point cause that's what breaking the habit is actually about.

And yea LilLioness Lies is a solid song.

like mongi said, Breaking the Habit is about Mike's friend, hence the song is not really coming from a 1st person perspective, so the whole notion of "fake repentance" is baffling since it is a purely hypothetical song in the sense that nobody actually knows what/how the person for whom the song was written about was feeling at the time

it's an expression of one's observations

please imagine bands such as Tool or APC, just because i know mongi loves them, if music was limited only to 1st

person perspectives and/or 1st hand experiences

I am sticking to my fake repentance interpretation. Songs like Habit are the musical equivalent of a famous person giving to charity for positive press.
