i'm shocked he hasn't blown it out though, he's always been like that really angry ape from Rampage, like "RWARRRUGHUUGHHHH"

YEAH MAN RAMPAGE

"Says the guy who has a pretty terrible taste in metal. Nice to see you back up your idiotic opinion. "

....I'd say yours sucks too, but since we actually have a bunch of the same 5's and 4.5s I think I'll refrain.

Gave into checking this out since lots of people are saying how good this is. I usually only listen to Meshuggah in small doses but I'm excited to take this one on fully because i've never listened to any of their albums the full way through except I.

for some reason this band always reminds me of Disturb, I can't listen to them without picturing Disturb.

the rainbow fellow in the trippy fluid has a point (your rating)

this is better than obzen, without a doubt. the production is jaw-dropping, they still bring the groove-train to groove town, and haake is an absolute stunner.

people who don't like them still won't like them, but who cares. if you like it you like it, if you don't you don't. discussion is the only end goal.

I disagree with the whole "hate or love" Meshuggah thing that everyone is supposed to adhere to. I usually like 3-4 songs off an album and find the rest boring. Which is really somewhere in between.

yeah man, you're not wrong for that. some people hate it, some people are meh, some people are like 'woo!', and some people are like 'my butt itches'.

the important thing is talking about that, the importance of perspective and shit.

They are one of those bands you have to "get." Like BTBAM, Dillinger, etc.

I didn't start listening to them by getting hooked by a lead single like with some radio band.

Yeah it can take time. Took me a long time to truly appreciate them, but Nothing eventually changed my perspective and now they're one of my all-time favorite bands.

Despite having seen this band cited as an influence by many bands in my metal collection, I never had heard anything by Meshuggah until this last year.

While nothing I've heard has been awful, albeit sort of boring, I still don't see anything boner-enducing.

Any recommendations on a good starting point in their discography for a n00b like myself?

Nothing and DEI are the 2 essentials imo. Although all are good.

This album is a good place to start. That or Chaosphere.
