technicality is the opposite of minimalism in music. if you have technical rhythm structures, then you are not minimalistic.

these guys have always been insanely (and gaudily) technical. they were the most overtly technical band around when they released cabinet, too. nothing has changed with incurso in that regard. it's something that people get far too stuck on. by extraction this album is technical, so using its technicality against it in order to defame is completely irrational. i actually dislike this album, but i would never condemn it based on the technicality. it's to be expected given the genre

u want emotions in death metal? wot

except there are noticeable climaxes and songwriting patterns. you can't fault the album because you can't recognize them. the execution is not the problem, and this is by a HUGE margin Spawn's most "emotional" album (i've listened to cabinet and noctambulant over 200 times each, so I think i'm in a place to identify this). for me personally, i'm simply sick of the genre and i've heard all there is to hear from it.

noctambulant is just as technical as this and it is widely considered the holy grail of tech albums. i don't get what you're trying to say with this technicality thing. spawn do not see technicality as an end but a means. they've always been the most technical band, and they've always had the strongest compositions to accompany that. it's just a characteristic of the grander organism

they're actually much less showy than more often revered bands (around here anyway) such as Gorod, who go on ostentatious minute long sprees of tapping harmonies. don't you like their newest album more than this? and yet that is clearly the more showy of the two. incurso is more technical, but gorod is definitely more gaudy

ok you're just babbling for the sake of babbling, which is kind of funny given your presumed stance on it (extrapolated from your stance on technicality for the sake of technicality)
