I've been spreading the idea that Unrepairable Gentleness is a template to Deafheaven since listening to them on day 1 and a cover would be godly

"What a dense and complex album this is. Stupid me for sitting on this for so long." [2]
Also, didn't Deafheaven tour with envy at some point?

Yea back in 2015 and it ruled. Envy puts on such a good show

I'd be shocked if envy didn't influence Deafheaven, like ocean said, just one song sounds like their template. The beginning of Unrepairable sounds almost exactly like the beginning of The Pecan Tree.

No doubt they have. I only heard of envy after hearing so many other bands cite them as an influence. I'm super glad their latest release was so strong

The main thing keeping this from a 5 right now is...why the HELL are the drums so low in the mix on the version I've been listening to? feels like they're drowned out in the more frantic moments. This needs a remaster.

I don't know what mix you are listening to, but the drums are very present on my Spotify version. Especially in the quiet moments they often take the forefront

I don’t think it needs a remaster

In my head Agent once dropped his entire soundsystem + headphone collection in a full bathtub and never replaced it after, this theory makes everything about his takes make 10x more sense and I urge you all to adopt it

i get what they mean, drums could be a little bit louder. Like at the beginning of Unrepairable Gentleness they're fast but don't have much impact bc they're not up with the guitars.

The drums sound prominent to me, but I'm listening to the 2008 re-release.

This needs more attention. It aged incredibly well, and went on to influence the likes of Deafheaven big time

Quarterly reminder that this still rules and should be given more attention

Heck yes. The atmosphere is so great on here too.

For real. Don't think they get quite enough recognition for how good their post rock atmospheric bits are, even independent of the SKRAMZ
