Not really, try their second and third albums, those 2 are my favorites. I haven't heard point #1 but a lot of people like it.

Is it just me or is Pinata the standout track on this album... seems the general consensus is that there is not a stand out track on the album but I thought Pinata was. Great mix of heavy riff with Melodic chorus and vocals are top notch with kryptict lyrics that has made must of you chevelle fans??? Plus they even added a solo...

Okay, well, I feel like this is Chevelle's weakest album since Point #1.

I laughed to myself a little reading this review. It seems that for bands, it's a lose-lose situation writing more than two albums or so. If a band's first album is unique and well-received, everyone sings praises. If they follow it up with a similar album, they achieved another success. But after that, they have to choose from two evils:
1) Continue on with the music they love to write, record, and play, which means being labeled as stagnant, bland, and lacking movement or creativity (ie Chevelle), or
2) Experiment with new sounds and styles, then have to listen to everyone whine about about how they wish the band had just stuck to what they were good at and would go "back to their roots" (ie Linkin Park).
It seems bands are supposed to evolve and experiment, but only a small amount per album. Anything more than a gradual change from one to the next with an overall limit of how far they can stray from the original album over the course of their career is just begging to be trashed.
