I'm really curious if these 4.5 and 5 ratings are serious. I'm really not sure how anyone can like this.

I'm serious. But I like experimentation in music. Also a lot of people in here seem to think I have poor taste in music as I think Design the Skyline have potential to become a great metalcore band.

They deserve this 0.5. When you attempt to change your sound to fit the current trend in music, you forfeit your musicianship.

"are they specifically given the album for the purpose of reviewing it by the label or
something?"

Or downloaded the leak like the rest of the country :P

well then I don't understand why the rules don't apply to staff either

I think you'll find it is streaming now. Proof: http://www.metalhammer.co.uk/news/korn-

One of the special edition tracks, 'Fuels the Comedy' is fucking awful. J.D is having a mid-life crisis.....

i dunno it's just a rule. one of the perks of being staff, they're allowed to review stuff early.

They get promotional copies sometimes

And the whole point of reviewing music professionally is to review it before it comes out

I understand that, but if that early review is based on an illegal download it seems pretty unprofessional

I don't think it's that bad, infact his vocals sound better than usual... definitely an odd direction for Korn fans to adjust to of which I am not really a fan anyway.

I took a dump and realized that the noise I was making kinda sounded like KoRn's new sound

"like I said earlier, I think Dev is 100% wrong on that one. dubstep (particularily "brostep") is becoming huge in NA. I think it will be around for a looooooooong time."

i dont doubt this either, but i like to pretend a good chunk of the brostep movement is just the younger generation's linkin park phase, and glory be, that didnt last too long.

I didn't see this earlier, but that's a really good point.

I find it funny that this review barely even mentions the music of the album, and rants on how the concept should have never happened without actually touching on why this is. but what else should i expect, this is sputnik, and no matter what korn does, they will give it a bad review regardless. either way, i still think this album isn't as good or revolutionary as it's been preached as for god knows how long, i just find it funny how much the average rating here differs from the rest of critics out there
