it just kinda feels like a watered down version of Altars. a lot of the riffs are really cool, but they just feel like rehashes of stuff off that album.
biggest gripe is easily the production - not nearly as dense or suffocating as on previous works, and really lacks that "occult" feel. the drums at times sound downright electronic, and the guitar tone can be pretty weak.
that said, it has some killer grooves, and the leads are as blazing as ever.
i dunno, i'm only on my first listen, but so far i'm feeling like a 3.5-4 on this.

yeah this is good and all but man at times altars feels like it was done by a completely different band
some of the tracks on the first half of this just completely lack the intensity that i love about MA

yeah, this this exactly. my first time i actually just shut it off haha.
right now i gotta say the second half is pretty fuckin killer, but the first has some kinda bland moments. but man this + altars production would be the best thing ever

The album is a grower. I began with Covenant (Have you heard it yet?) and couldnt stand this on the first couple listens, but trust me.. this album is ADDICTIVE. Keep listening, soon its gonna be engraved into your brain.
