I first heard ( ) forever ago it seems and always loved it, but slept on this one until last year. I think this is better by a lot

I prefer ( ) no question. there's no scenario where I'd rather listen to this than ( ) unless I just wanted to hear this again since I rarely play it because I have ( ) and Takk.

Less emotional. This is their best post-rock album but not the best Sigur Ros album. You get me?

i guess so. ( ) seems to be more ambient/classical influenced than post-rock. i find it gets to be a bit too samey, but you're right it's probably their most emotionally charged record

I prefer the more classical influence Sigur Ros (Takk, (), Valtari) stylistically but their more post-rock influenced records are still marvelous (Kveikur, This, and a lot of Von).

It's very different, it's their darkest record for sure and more ambient based. Less than of the songs are typical Sigur Ros hopeful music and the rest are more oriented towards dark soundscapes that are legitimately scary. It barely qualifies as a Sigur Ros album but it's still really good imo. You should check it out if you want to hear a Sigur Ros album inspired by Swans (Soundtracks for the Blind in particular).

First half of Takk... soars higher than the rest of their discog. None of their records are without flaws, but in a way it's part of the charm. Perfectly flawed if that makes any sense at all. And fuck me, is Svefn - G - Englar not one of the most beautiful ten minutes of music any artist has ever recorded?

I also think that the 2nd half of Takk is just as good as the first.
